Last night Bill Kirchen (R) and James Hand perfomed on KDRP’s Texas Radio Live with Larry Monroe. After Kirchen played his signature song, “Hot Rod Lincoln,” in which he imitates a dozen or more other guitar players’ styles, Larry interviewed Hand, who before he played, described his flavor of country music as Nostradamus on acid. Wow.

Bubble Man in Central Park

I just returned from New York where I saw an entertainer making giant soap bubbles in Central Park. I made this 3D photo, which you can “free-view” by diffusing your eyes ever so slightly before gazing beyond the screen. When three images come into your view, concentrate on the middle image to see the 3D effect.

Beneath the Surface

The City of Austin is upgrading the storm water drain system in my neighborhood,
hence this 26-foot deep trench in front of my house, cut through solid limestone. The
workers are accustomed to my presence with camera and accommodated my request to
drag some street barriers to the edge of this precipice so that I could photograph it.

Barton Creek After a Rain

I had the pleasure of walking Barton Creek after a rain with Bill Bunch, who knows it like the back of his hand. The late
afternoon sun bouncing off the canyon wall and the blue sky contributed to the reflected color in the water.
